Pipe V41

Great little pipe that is sure to become a favorite smoker for someone. Made from Algerian briar that is over 25 years old. I could tell when working on this one that the wood was extremely dry, very porous. On this very light rustication I was testing out a new Dremel bit and I used it differently on each side of the pipe so there are really two different rustications here, but they are so similar that most people would never notice. Ferrule on shank is made of padouk, which is one of my favorites due to the way it reflects light and seems to change color as you move it. Stem is handcut from cumberland rod and is very thin. This cumberland is different than what I usually use in that it has a much finer grain and the coloring is less red than usual. This material was not produced for pipe stems but it is an excellent vulcanite and makes a first rate stem. Pipe weighs only 32 grams and is 5 1/2 inches long. Tobacco chamber is 7/8 inch across and 1 1/8 inches deep.
