Pipe C30
Nice rusticated apple with a bakelite stem. Silver band on the shank of this pipe has a design with some black coloring on it and this makes it really blend in nicely with the rustication on this pipe. A nice change from the usual bright silver that jumps out at you. Stem is molded bakelite that I have modified to be more comfortable in the mouth and to have a more open draw. This stem came with no tenon so I decided to try Delrin and I like the results very much. Bakelite stem is interesting in that it is two distinct colors. Bakelite tends to change color as it ages and this stem must have been a few years old when I got it because when I thinned out the button end the true pale color came out. Button end of this stem is a pale creamy yellow and the tenon end is bright yellow. Rather than sand off the bright yellow I decide to leave the stem with both colors showing. This pipe weighs 70 grams and is 6 inches long. Tobacco chamber is 1 1/2 inches deep and 3/4 inch across.
